ABOUT ME
​
Dr. Geena Kam is a pianist, educator, collaborator, and arts leader who is driven by the transformative power of music to inspire, connect, and enrich lives. She is the founder and director of the Summer Chamber Music Concert Series at the Roti Roti Art Center in Buchanan, MI, and serves as the artistic director of the Michiana Chapter of Music for Food. In recognition of her contributions to the arts and her service to the community, Geena was honored with the South Bend Regional Chamber “40 Under 40” Award in 2022 and the South Bend Area Music Teachers Association (SBAMTA) Teacher of the Year Award in 2025.​

Geena is a sought-after teacher dedicated to helping students discover their musical potential and develop their unique artistic voices. Her students have achieved recognition as winners in regional, national and international competitions. In addition, she served as Director of the Fischoff Chamber Music Academy and Summer Intensive, fostering collaboration and artistic growth among young chamber musicians.

A passionate educator, Geena has presented workshops and masterclasses for area music teachers and students, creating meaningful opportunities for young pianists to grow and perform. Recent presentations include “The Art of Pedaling” for the Keyboard Music Festival at Andrews University and “Impacting Our Community Through Music” for the SBAMTA.​​​
She holds degrees from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (B.A in piano performance), Eastern Michigan University (M.A in piano performance), and the University of Iowa (D.M.A in piano performance and pedagogy), as well as has attended the Institute of for European Studies (IES) in Vienna, Heifetz International Music Institute, Chautauqua Institution, and Adamant Music School. Her principal teachers were Réne Lecuona, William Heiles, Joel Schoenhals. She studied pedagogy under Alan Huckleberry, Reid Alexander and Christos Tsitsaros.

Geena is a member of the piano faculty at Saint Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN, and also serves as the chamber music coach for the Fischoff Chamber Music Academy and the piano coach for the South Bend Youth Symphony Orchestras.​ Outside of music, Geena loves to explore the visual arts and is an avid Kettlebell Sport lifter and IKFF-certified Kettlebell coach.
